Blessings and Possibilities
As 2021 comes to a close, we are thankful for our blessings and look forward to a new year full of possibilities.
Among those blessings are you! Your support this year helped a local workforce family become the 28th Habitat homeowner to build their home alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. When working families have the security of homeownership, they are more vested in their neighborhoods, their schools, and their jobs.
“A new year full of possibilities” takes on new meaning for us in 2022. With the donation of lots from the Archuleta Board of County Commissioners, plus using modular construction of energy efficient homes, Habitat Archuleta has committed to a 5-year plan to build 15 homes for workforce families in the next 5 years. These homes will always stay affordable due to deed restrictions on re-sale which require the homes to always be sold to families whose income is less than 80% of the Area Median Income.
The Pagosa Springs area has seen an expansive increase in the price of homes in the last 5 years, creating a lack of affordable housing for the folks that make our community work. Affordable homeownership provides stability for our workforce to live in the community they serve. To keep our retail, tourism, healthcare, school and municipal workers here, we must increase the inventory of affordable homes.
Here’s how you can make an impact in Habitat’s 5-Year Plan to increase Affordable Homeownership:
Be an Advocate for affordable housing – our local governments, businesses and organizations need to hear your voice in support of Habitat Archuleta’s 5-year plan.
Donate your time – volunteer on a build, join a committee or join our board.
Donate financially – in addition to helping increase affordable homeownership, your donation is tax deductible and can earn a State of Colorado Tax credit of 25% on cash donations over $250.00.

Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County operates entirely on funds generated from this office, so we rely on the support of our community to help provide homeownership for families who would not otherwise be able to own their home. By donating, you help us impact more families here in Archuleta County.
Thank you for your support!
